Speaking well is different from writing well
Many advanced Italian speakers struggle with written Italian - formal emails, academic texts, professional correspondence. Spoken language tolerates ambiguity. Written Italian does not.
What this program addresses
Subjunctive and conditional moods in depth, agreement rules across complex sentence structures, punctuation conventions, and register shifts between formal and informal written Italian. We also cover common errors that native English speakers make at this level.
The writing component
Each week you submit a short written piece - a letter, an opinion essay, a narrative passage. Instructors return detailed written feedback within 48 hours. Over 20 weeks, you will produce a substantial body of corrected, improved work.
Realistic outcomes
This course will not make you write like Calvino. It will give you the grammatical control and stylistic awareness to write clearly, correctly, and appropriately for professional or academic purposes in Italian.
